Hospice Insurance Coverage
The patient or representative can revoke Hospice benefits to return to a curative or treatment mode at any time. The patient may also re-elect Hospice care and move into the next benefit period at any time.
Attending Physician Services
Each patient retains their attending physician when Hospice care is elected. The attending physician continues to direct the plan of care and works closely with the team to ensure continuity of care and comfort.
Nondiscrimination Policy
As a recipient of Federal finance assistance, Sunrise Hospice Care does not exclude, deny benefits to, or otherwise discriminate against any person on the ground of race, color, or national origin, or on the basis of disability or age in admission to, participation in, or receipt of the services and benefits under any of its programs, contractors, or any other entity with which Sunrise Hospice Care arranges to carry out its programs and activities.
Hospice care is fully covered by Medicare and Medical Benefit
Most private insurance and managed care plans (HMO) have a Hospice benefit.
All care provided by the attending physician and treatment for conditions not related to the life limiting illness continue to be paid for by Medicare and Medical
Special funds are available for patients and families wihtout resources so they ma receive Hospice care.
The Attending Phsyician and the Hospice Medical Director certify that the patient has a life expectancy of six months or less if the disease follows its normal course.
The patient or representative choose comfort care instead of curative or aggressive treatment, which is no longer effective or appropriate.
